Should I be scared of flying for the first time ever?

I'm scared of flying but am flying alone for the first time in about 2 weeks...?

Keep in mind that your chances of dying in an automobile accident are 10,000 times more likely than in an airplane. Aviation is one of the most heavily regulated industries in the world...from how airplanes are designed, built, maintained, and flown. Aircraft systems incorporate leading edge technology...the GPS systems found in your car were originally developed for aircraft. Modern day aircraft have not one but multiple back up systems... and a total failure of any one of these systems is next to impossible. Airplanes are also incredibly strong... they can handle aerodynamic forces much, much greater than they are actually certified to operate at, so there is a very wide margin of safety. Pilots are comparable to physicians in the amount of time and dedication it takes to be a pilot. Rest easy... you may want to bring along some dramamine or other medication just in case your stomach doesn't adjust well to its first flight. An airplane can hit turbulence or "air pockets"...which gives the sensation of a slight jolt or bump, but as I mentioned, an airplane is built so strong that this won't even phase it. Unfortunately, the ratings-chasing media love to flock to an aircraft accident and arrive at "conclusions" before there is any hard evidence about what caused the crash, and they certainly haven't helped to put aviation safety in a positive light. Ignore the ignorance.

There is nothing to be afraid of. You will be safer on the plane that in your car driving to the airport. Just remember that when you are on the plane you will experience some sounds, and feel some things that will be strange to you, but they are normal things that happen on an airplane flight. Just enjoy your trip and don't worry. Maybe you could sit by a window and look out at how beautiful the earth looks from an airplane. You get a prospective of the world you can never get from the ground.

The plane wont crash. I was afraid of flying & so is my best friend. We made it all the way to Europe & back safely. Just say your prayers before you go, but the plane wont crash.

If you are flying alone you will probably crash..... What i would suggest is perhaps flying with a trained and qualified pilot and crew, That way the chances of dying are very very small. You have a much greater chance of dying crossing the road but i bet you dont think twice about that. I think your fear is not having any control of what is a possibility slim or otherwise. Get a window seat so you can see what is going on outside, If you cant see out the window you will be paranoid ( a bit like going for a ride in a car in the boot)
