Is it possible to pause a video you are making?

Is there a software that enables me to sync notetaking to a video file?

  • Could I play a video on VLC and take notes on a software like OneNote  and have my notes sync up so when I go to a section of my notes it plays  the segment of video associated with it? So far the best I have is screen capturing vlc and having it name the file based on the video files timecode. This enables me to capture slides etc and if I need to make additional notes not written by a lecturer I have to use photoshop/gimp to add text to the images. The adding text part is highly cumbersome. Another way I had was to take a screen shot using OneNote but you have to manually size the part of the screen everytime which again becomes cumbersome. I am open to any and all possible software solutions to do this. There may be a program already out there that does this automatically that I don't know of! Requirements: Ability to take notes (ideally one like Onenote where making bullets is really easy) Ability to screen capture from video file (ideally from something like VLC where I can set global shortcuts for pause/play) Screen shots somehow enable me to know where in the video it was from (so I can go back if needed) Notes correlate to screenshot in someway Possible solutions: Have onenote automatically take screenshots of a certain area of the screen and insert it into the current page every time with the use of a keyboard shortcut. I could then just write notes underneath whichever image I wanted. VLC snapshot to clipboard and somehow the snapshot has current time of video in it and then just past to onenote I'm looking for a way that is as streamlined as possible and wastes the minimum amount of time clicking menu's and resizing text boxes to add text etc.

  • Answer:

Note taking is built in most serious video editing software (Adobe Premiere & After effects, Final Cut, IMovie...). I don't get why you go in such complicated stuff. With any of the software above you can easily take notes and exports them in XLM or CSV with related timestamps.
