The qualifications to be a Professional photographer?

What qualifications do you need to be a photographer?

  • I'd like to become an animal photographer. Not like in studios, things like showjumping, and just taking and selling pics in general of animals. Thanks =)

  • Answer:

Qualifications? Paper qualifications? None. Knowledge and experience? Lots.

You dont need qualifications, just a good camera and a portfolio of photographs. You could do evening classes to get the best out of your camera

None, but I would recommend working as an assistant first as the experience will be invaluable. This will build your confidence, contacts, knowledge, techniques, etc These assisting jobs are so in demand unfortunately. Do a search for events photographers in your local area and start from there. You may find that they cover showjumping, executive balls, school events and allsorts rather than specialise just in the equestrian arena.

You dont really need any.. But doing a course will give you experience and teach you all the advanced concepts that seperate an amateur from a pro.. As well as a good portfolio.

None...my husband is a self employed Master Photographer and part time tattoo artist. He never went to uni..instead he learned everything he knows now from his uncle who is a Master Photographer. Good money if you can get into it.
