It sounds like it is dying. Is it a flat panel? I would also check the vents to see if it has a dust buildup. Go to the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting. If none of this works, bring it to a repair shop to get it checked out.

If it's an LCD screen, it's broken. If it's a CRT (tube-type) screen, check for anything plugged in nearby (~2 to 3 feet or less) that might be producing a 60 Hz (cycles-per-second) magnetic field--like a wall-mount-style transformer power supply ("wall wart"). Many LCD monitors, especially (but not limited to) cheap ones have a problem with a type of component called an "electrolytic capacitor" (cap)--the monitor power supply has many of these. This article has details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_Plague A bad power supply with bad caps will cause what you describe. ~~ ScienceMikey My home page: http://MRudas.2Ya.com My software blog: http://FaveSoft.blogspot.com My Protopage links: http://TinyURL.com/3wt54n
