Is there less of a demand for Pediatric nurses?

Are nurses still in demand and will they continue to be?

  • My future is already looking dim as the nursing program has so many applicants. It went from nurses being in demand to too many nurses applying. So does that mean jobs will be limited ...show more

  • Answer:

As with any career in health care, nursing is experiencing a shortage of qualified individuals needed to fill positions within a hospital, clinic or other medical establishment. While it is true that there is higher competition for jobs within urban areas, that does not mean jobs are not available, sometimes it just takes creativity and networking to find those jobs. It can be a little disconcerting to read the "nursing shortage" headlines while waiting to be called for an interview, but, the nursing shortage has really just begun. The projections well into the future for nursing jobs definitely indicate that the need for nurses now will only increase as the Boomers retire and health care in the U.S. changes. If you research the data available for nurses, state-by-state, you can see which areas need nurses, as well as the types of nurses in demand for those areas. Also, with the changing landscape of nursing qualifications, obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing can increase the ability to find a job in the field. Best of luck to you!

The job market for new grad nurses it awful. The are WAY more grads then there are jobs. Still nursing schools continue to pump out new nurses. The schools make it sound like it is still easy to get a job, but it's not. They don't want to tell perspective students the truth because the schools want the money. I graduated in December and I have been looking since November and I still don't have a job. I have been looking all over. People say you will find a job if you are willing to move but that's not true. It's bad everywhere. There are a lot of nursing jobs but they all require experience but I am not sure how one is supposed to get that experience if no one wants to hire new grads. I think having a BSN is an advantage over an associates degree and in this market you need all the advantages you can get.

The society we live in involves specialization. One person is dedicated to one career, someone else will handle the others. That means one person must focus on one career, you should be top-notch if it's your career, you chose t because you love it, it's your passion, so be the best. And nothing runs out of demand, people retire, business replaces, business builds, new people hired. You should be top-notch in your career, you should dedicate a lot of time and effort into it, and you should make yourself the demand these businesses want. The payoff is big, but you have to work your way up, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove, so go back to school and get the best degree you can.
