Don't even think about having an Irish passport issued within two weeks as first time applicant. Get an appointment at one of the 7 Regional Passport Offices in the U.K. to have the lost British passport replaced on one-week service (fee: £112.50). It just mystifies me why you people wait until the last minute to worry about getting something as necessary and basic as a Passport. With just 2 weeks to do it. YOU HAVE TO WALK IT THROUGH IN PERSON otherwise there is not enough time. Go to the Irish CONSULATE and talk to them, but your lost passport WILL be a problem for you. regardless if you renew it as a British passport or not... the one cardinal rule is YOU NEVER LOSE A PASSPORT and if you do.. you will wish you would have held on to it a bit better.
