Nice areas to live in cheshire?

It would really depend on your budget to be honest... and what you are looking for, what you are looking for in terms of transport and job opportunities (or whether you already have a job), whether you need schools, nightlife, whether you need to know travelling times to manchester/liverpool, what the motorways are like in rush hour (M6 has some black spots in Cheshire), what sort of age are you etc etc. I live in Cheshire and have done for the last 20 years. I'm currently not far from Appleton Thorn so can definitely advise you there if you want but I do know other areas of the county pretty well. You will need to be a little more specific though, as from what you've put it is still a bit vague as to what you are looking for. For the record, there are some VERY nice places just outside the likes of Crewe and Runcorn, so don't rule out them out too much - they are more affordable than some other areas of the county and still have the nice elements without the downsides to the towns. Nice and leafy suggests potentially village life? Edit: I honestly suggest you look at the areas around Warrington/South Manchester rather than Cheshire as such. (Warrington has a large maternity unit itself too). South of the Manchester Ship Canal round M6 junction 20 is pricer but you should be able to get a good 3 bed/4 property for that price (Grappenhall, Stockton Heath, Lymm, Thelwall, Appleton Thorn are all nice 'villages' with good schools). You are looking at 35min - 1hr to get to Liverpool/ Manchester by road in the mornings depending on where/traffic. You can also get to likes of Wigan/Chester which have maternity units within that time too. Its ideal for commuting to a large part of the region. North of Manchester Canal has decent places too though, and they are slightly cheaper. If you are looking to work in Liverpool or Manchester, much far south of M6 Junction 19 of the M6 it becomes a pain in rush hour which is why I don't suggest Cheshire as such, particularly since the link roads to the motorway tend to be congested. (Congleton isn't particularly nice either.) If it has to be Cheshire, other than Warrington, you would be looking at Knutsford and Wilmslow - both of which have good and bad areas (you need to watch out for the flightpath for the airport too). If you are looking for racial diversity, you definitely won't find it in Warrington/Cheshire though! It does get a bit more diverse if you are prepared to move a little closer to Manchester in areas Lobbs has suggested (they are decent suggestions). You will also get better public transport there as out towards Cheshire/Warrington unless you live in the towncentre it can be pretty poor (practically non-existant!). The last train to/from Manchester/Liverpool is around 11pm to/from Warrington and getting taxis out that far isn't really doable. Taxis/Buses are far more of an option if you head more towards south Manchester/Stockport areas.
