Which is more stressful- being a nurse anesthetist or nurse practitioner?

Answer:
Nurse anesthetist. The vast majority of nurse practitioners do office work under the supervision of a physician. Yes, some may do high stress ER work but not many. Most work M-F and have weekends and holidays off and no call. Nurse Anesthetists mainly work in the operating room or OB department without physician supervision. (In many states their licenses call them independent practitioners, meaning no physician supervision.) If you really want a clue compare the pay of both AND the insurance rates. Both are higher for nurse Anesthetists due to the increased risks AND STRESS of the job.
