You can just call the hospital and ask to be transferred to the ultrasound department (if that doesn't work, ask to be transferred to radiology). It's definitely possible to shadow a sonographer. I had to shadow a sonographer for eight hours before I could apply to the program I am in now. I know some hospitals don't allow shadowing, but most do. You might have to go over the HIPAA laws with someone there before you can shadow and sign papers saying that you're aware of patient confidentiality. You might also have to wait until you're 18, depending on the site.
