Why do mosquito bites itch so bad?

Why do mosquito bites itch long after the initial bite?

  • Every summer I get a ton of mosquito bites that leave large welts and itch horribly for a while afterward. So I was curious what exactly makes them itch?

Their saliva is in under your skin and they use it to keep your blood from clotting so it will keep flowing. It is the saliva that most of us are allergic to.

I read in a book (scientific) that the reason its irritated and it itches so much is because the saliva is mixed in with your blood

When Mosquitos bute they need to transfer blood that is pretty thick through a thin tube so they put another tube in that injects saliva to make the blood thinner which makes it itch
