Does a child need a passport to cross the Canadian/USA border by car?

I'm driving to the States and wanted to know if my daughter needed a passport? I was under the impression that she only needed her Canadian Birth Certificate. Can someone answer ...show more

I would say so.You could be held at the border indefinitely until the child's identity is known. A birth certificate holds little water on the U.S. side of the border these days. And,if you're going through any check point in New York,it's worse.
