  • Answer:

It does NOT affect your college choices!! Colleges are starting to look for more people who are home schooled (or in your case, online home schooled) because the students seem more disciplined and have great grades. I don't think K12 public school is so great.. Just take the regular K12 Public school because you have the opportunity to interact with people more because I have heard that they take field trips. If your grandparents still aren't sure about the socializing then just promise them that you will get into clubs, sports and volunteer at shelters. :) Plus I also heard that the items are free (computer, printer, etc). Talk to one of the representatives on the phone and ask all those questions you have wanted to ask. Middle school and high school can be full of anxiety and stress. If you are really that unhappy at your current school and want to attend a different school or homeschool, I would present your parents with some options. While homeschooling may seem like the ideal solution, it is not as easy as you may think. It would require your parents to develop a curriculum and to make sure that you are learning everything you are suppose to. Depending upon their jobs this also may not be feasible. An alternative solution you could look into is cyber schools. There are tons of cyber charter schools out there, many of which are free or are funding by the money your school district would have used to fund your education. Cyber schools connect you online with teachers who will ensure that you are learning the information you should be while providing you with the books and exercises necessary for you to keep learning. Another benefit of cyber schools is that you won't lose the interaction with other students. Many classes offer chats so you can speak with other students in the class and the teacher and learn from each other. They also offer field trips and all the other "fun" stuff in school. If you think that homeschooling or cyber school is really the route that you want to go I would encourage you to do the research and present the ideas to your parents. Gathering all of the information on their classes, curriculum, costs, etc will show your parents that you are really serious about getting out of your current school and providing them options. Hope this helps, and best of luck. Just remember each experience we have in our lives makes us stronger for tomorrow. Good Luck!

We love homeschooling and if K12 online public school had it in our area we would be using them as well! My daughter is in 4th grade now and we have homeschooled all except one of those years and she hated that one year of school after being used to homeschool. So I say give it try! You will love it!

Tell them the truth. That you want to focus on school not the drama . And if needed the school will let u borrow a computer, etc . My son is in the public school option for k12. I think its the best online public school u can get. The teachers are more involved then the usual everyday school. You can get help when ever needed. You can go on the outings they have with your classmates. I think it is a fun way to learn. You also have classroom sessions with your teacher and class mates. Tell them you just never know you just might have A+ grades. Then you can really go to a good college. Best of luck
