I go to a school that has decided to add a class to my nursing curriculum?
-
I was in my second quarter when this happened. Do they have the right to do this? If not, can I file a complaint with the board of education?
-
Answer:
Normally, the courses that are required for your degree when you enter the school, are the courses you must take. Normally, if they add a class later on, you don't have to take it. However, there are exceptions. If this class is being added to allow the school to meet accreditation or nursing practice standards, you must take it. If it's being added to make it more likely that you'll pass the nursing exams, then you must take it. A reasonable question to your advisor would be "Why have they added this class", and "When I entered, it wasn't required. Must I take it?"
