Is there a train station in Heathrow?

I am flying into Heathrow and want to take a train to Glasgow. What train should I take from which station?

  • We are arriving at Heathrow on a Wednesday evening 9:30 p.m. in September. We hope to be able to get from Heathrow to a train to Glasgow that evening.

  • Answer:

Take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington, then the underground to Euston station. Take the 23:50 sleeper train to Glasgow arriving 07:20, reservations are mandatory. You have choice of a seat in an open saloon coach or a bed in 2 person compartment (sharing with a person of the same sex). This is a tight itinerary, so check the timings. For more details see: http://www.scotrail.co.uk/caledoniansleeper/index.html Independent advice: http://www.seat61.com/CaledonianSleepers.htm A ticket for sleeper train is valid on the Underground from Paddington.

As you can see from the answers you have 1. you can't get a train directly but have to go into London first 2. By the time you get into London its going to be at least 10.30pm (if your arrival time at Heathrow is 9.30pm then that means the plane lands at 9.30pm. By the time it unloads and you have collected your bags, found the train station at Heathrow, got into town.....) and the options on trains to Glasgow are very limited indeed. Investigate getting a flight connection to Glasgow airport from Heathrow, less than 1hr flight and probably cheaper than the train. Or get a hotel for the night near Heathrow - there are lots, all with courtesy buses and travel next day. Next day you can either fly or take the fast rail connection. This might be a small country, but Glasgow is over 400 miles from London. May be a bit late now, but some flights do go direct into Glasgow from as far away as USA.

As Timothy says above. If you decide to travel up to Glasgow the next morming after staying the night in London, the daytime trains from Euston to Glasgow run every hour and take about 4 hours 40 minutes. Tickets purchased well in advance are the cheapest www.virgintrains.co.uk Booking opens 11 weeks before your journey. When collecting your tickets from the station you need your booking reference number and the same credit card you used online. If you plan on doing quite a few rail journeys around the U.K., a Britrail Pass purchesed before arrival is the cheapest option www.britrail.com (The night service from Euston to Glasgow is operated by Scotrail www.scotrail.co.uk)

You missed it its now November, last train to Glasgow left at 1930hrs. why not get a flight to Glasgow

Goosey

The only train I think you'd be able to get to Glasgow after that time in the evening is the Caledonian sleeper, which leaves from Euston station and gets to Glasgow in the early morning (you sleep on the train). Alternatively, spend the night in a hotel in London (instead of on the sleeper train) and get a train to Glasgow in the morning.
