If I have an IP address how can I find the location of the computer?

    You will need the hhelp of the ISP who provided the IP as we.. In addition you will need some kind of court order to force the ISP to release IP information and a search warrant to confiscate the PC, and who knows what else. File a claim with the police, or see a lawyer.

You wont be able to accurately. Probably your ISP could but wouldn't unless forced to by a court order. Ive checked my own IP address and it locates me 120 miles from where I actually am. I could only suggest if its that serious contact the police and see what they have to say about it

The second and third answers are both correct. If, you us Geobytes you also have the use of maps which can help trace the location of the computer.

just type in the IP in the address bar in your browser and see if it takes you to a phony business website There are various trace tools online. google IP trace or lookup. http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?Getlocation is one
