Think of the atoms as couples dancing, and then they switch partners. potassium chloride: KCl silver acetate: AgAc or CH3COOAg KCl + AgAc ===> KAc + AgCl(s) Silver chloride is not soluble so ends up as a precipitate, hence the (s) as a state symbol.
