WHY IS MY AIRSOFT GUN NOT FIRING?

Why is dry firing bad for an airsoft gun?

  • I heard that if dry firing (shooting with no ammo in the gun) is bad, but why?

  • Answer:

Basically it will strip your piston.

there is nothing stopping the pressure (no resistance to the piston) so it fires harder and with more impact. This causes it 5 times damage per shot or something. Its like the difference between having suspension on your car or just solid bars.
