When fishing boats, while more than one rod may be used, it's not smart, especially if your fishing off the sport fishing boats. This is because if you get two fish on at once, it might cause tangles while you try to get both in. This especially applies to rock fishing, were tangles are already a problem even when there are few people. Also, the captain and other people might get mad at you. And by the way, sardines(including many big ones) are one of the most commonly used live bait on sport fishing boats, so you can just take a few home with you if you want some. Hope this helps!! P.S.
