What is a good printer that I can use for occasional use?

What is a good wireless printer for a little home use? Should I buy a laser or an ink printer?

  • Answer:

Hey there, choosing between an inkjet printer and a laser printer is quite straightforward. Laser printers have a high initial cost but less recurring costs, while an inkjet printer has relatively high recurring costs but less initial costs. Since you print only about 15 to 20 pages a month an inkjet printer would be a good idea. The ones from HP and Canon are great. The Canon PIXMA MX895 would be a great option. In case you plan on a long term option a laser printer would be great and here is a link to some good laser printers => http://computers.become.com/laser-printer

For what you describe you want a black laser printer. Brother laser printers are built to last. I have 2 about 10 years old for which I paid $50 each. Unlike some companies (HP) where every printer needs a different cartridge so as to inflate the prices, Brother only has about 8-10 different ones which they have been making for years. This is why their cartridges are among the least expensive, in the $20-$30 range. You can find a list of brother cartridges and pricing here: http://ccs-digital.com/brother-toner.asp
