Can I cancel my comcast digital voice?

Comcast/XFinity Voice Service with a fax machine.?

  • Is there any way to setup my phone and voice mail (through XFinity/Comcast) to work on a single line with an auto-answering fax machine? As in, send missed voice calls to voice mail, ...show more

  • Answer:

The only way i know of that will allow the phone and fax to share a line and faxes come in on their own is to get a fax that allows a code to be entered such as star 98 or whatever, its usually star or pound and then on your voice mail set it up so the greeting says if you are sending a fax push pound two three etc, I did this before and it worked great, if I was on a call and a fax came in on the call waiting all i had to do was click over , when i would hear the fax tones i would just push on the phone the code and it would go to the fax of course I had to wait for the fax to store it or print out before clicking back over. Check your fax machine settings and see if there is a code to "send incoming calls to the fax" Also when you give out your "fax" number, tell the person to punch that code in when the line picks up so they don't have to sit through the greeting and sometimes not hear it fully because usually people send fax they don't pick up the phone on the fax they just do it via speakerphone and sometimes the fax tones overpower the answering machine and they might not hear the code on your greeting. Hope I have helped!~
