Look, you sound like a really knowledgeable person, You should take a career in something that you enjoy, whilst ensuring it isn't something to downgrading on your own ability. These two job's are relatively different, yet they both involve key sciences, So what do you enjoy? Think and ask yourself, "What do i really want to venture into?" And if something enters your heart straight away then, it seems you may have already come to your conclusion, I've had a similar experience, and both within the same genres, and i know its hard. I really hope this works out and helps you.

Do something because you love doing it, not because of the money. In fact, when choosing a career don't even think about the salary.

Yes, you are thinking right about nursing career. As a nurse i know there are lot of openings in UK and of course you can get a good source of income in this occupation. Well not only you can earn money but you can get job satisfaction in this occupation.

Don't dual major in engineering. Its basically suicide. Unless you're really confident and prepared to have no free time whatsoever, also keep in mind that will probably take you a minimum of 5 years to do. A degree in engineering is a stepping stone to all kinds of opportunities. Professionally and personally. For a lot of companies, it's really important to give back to the community with various outreach programs and things like that. In fact a company I just worked with had two of its ME's volunteer their time to design a energy efficient greenhouse for the local high school. Do challenging, and if you don't like it you can always change your major.

I have the same problem! I can't decide my major (Business Management, Computer Engineer, or Optometry). I completely understand your feelings about deciding your career. I love computers and I want to understand how they work. I also love to work with numbers. Medicine has always been a very interesting field to me and especially optometry. So for which major do I decide for? I will not be sure of my decision but I plan to try the one that most interest me. If it doesn't seem to be for me then I am going to try the next major, and so on. Maybe when I get into college I will discover a completely that none of them were for me. My point is, just go to college and let your future decide for you. That is my advice and what I am going to do.

My daughter was dithering between Medical Administration and Transportation in her senior year. An internship at a big hospital made the choice clear. She is now getting her PhD in civil engineering. No one remembers a nurse the day after they retire. Civil engineers leave things that often last for centuries.
