What's it like to work at a hotel?

    I worked and lived in a Best Western for 8 years. I liked it. The advantages of living there were that you have no commute to work but the disadvantage was that since you live there you are always on call and will have to cover any shift when another front desk person calls out. Another disadvantage of living there is if you lose your job you also lose your home. The work was easy and there is very little cleaning involved for front desk staff. If a customer has a complaint about their room you just put them into another one. 99% of the customers were really cool but 1% were total assholes who wouldn't be happy no matter what you did. Just learn to keep your mouth shut and smile.

cleaning the rooms is a very hard job and you are responsible for the customers belongings in the rooms when you clean them. The customers can be very demanding and irritating when you work the front desk but you are always suppose to stay polite. It can be a rewarding job if that is the kind of work you enjoy.
