Is it worth it becoming a dental assistant?

What do you honestly think of a male becoming a dental assistant?

  • What do you honestly think of a guy becoming a dental assistant? I know it's usually a female job but I'm a 22 year old guy and am thinking of becoming one? Do you think ...show more

  • Answer:

    1. If you are single, yes, males make up about 6% of dental assistants. But hey, that means for every 1 guy, there are about 10 girls :-) Just think about that one. 2. If females can run for public office, then males can be dental hygenists. It is a great job. Lots of security and good pay. 3. If your friends judge you because you are a DA, screw them. If the job makes you happy, then true friends won't really care. Sure, they may pretend to care. Hahaha, on of my friends is a dude DA and for a while his friends made fun of him, but after that, it was just a part of him. Don't worry about it. Get a job that makes you happy and go from there. Best of luck, Bridget

I wouldn't care as long as you did a good job. I've had male nurses at a doctors office before, so I really wouldn't care.

I don't know much on this but I know that if you really want to become an assistant... GO FOR IT!!!! Just because your worried about the social life that will follow this job doesn't need to stop you. If everybody didn't do what they wanted to do for the fear of what others might do to you we would be NOWHERE in this world. And if you do decide to take this opportunity don't let all the comments get you down.

If you're good at your job, the best places will hire you based on your talent, not your gender. It also depends on the comfort level of the patients. Men probably won't mind, but some women might. Good luck!

Doesn't bother me as long as you do a good job. I've never seen a male dental assistant in my dental office. Good Luck!

Honestly there is not many. Why just an assistant, why not study to be a dentist. Brilliant paid, always work...... Aim your goals high, if I was 22 I would go into dentistry most definately.
