Who can do the brushing technique for sensory issues?

  • Has anyone heard of that brushing technique people use on autistic children for sensory issues? I was wondering if you could do that to yourself or if it had to be done by someone ...show more

  • Answer:

It is a real technique that you need to learn to do it well, but you could give it a try. One thing that is easy to come by that you could use is a very large make-up brush. Try different motions of the brush against your skin.

its difficult to do on yourself--not sure if you can do it as good... the program should be set up by an occupational therapist, but anyone can be trained to do it. often, a surgical scrub brush is used...never used a make up brush... also used a vibrating massager--like you can get at a drug store or department store for $10 as we;; as joint compression... there are other components to a sensory diet besides brushing
