Would an Xbox 360 controller work on games for PC?

Can my xbox 360 controller pc work with my win7 pc for the games just cause 2 , prototype, and gta iv?

  It would only work if the controller is wired (not a Charge N Play kit wire, actually hard-wired into the controller)(Like a Xbox Original controller) First thing I would do to figure out if it would work would be to check the game manual. After that I would go into the game and go into the options for controls, and see if there's a Joystick option (usually that means anything other than keyboard or mouse) and if there is I would do a google search just to make sure they work with the games.
