Why is my guinea pig urinating blood?

    You could try going to a different vet and see if they give a different opinion. I am really sorry. If your guinea pig really is happy most of the time it seems a shame to put the poor thing down, but then again she might be hiding the pain. I hope you make the right decision... Get a second opinion, and get a different antibiotic, Have your vet check for struvite crystals in the urine. That could be causing some issues.

Some stupid bloody answers on this question. Anyway, im sorry to hear of your situation, but im afraid anything you hear on here will be false hope, yahoo answers is about 1% as likely to help as your vet, just ring him/her up and ask for a full explanation on the situation and why he would possibly suggest euthanasia. Because if it a genuine infection, being killed over a temporary illness is bloody stupid, even if it is unfortunately painful.

Yes and sadly my beloved Susie had to be put down when the bleeding came back....If everything has been done to try to help--then yes it probably is....Held her and cried all the way to the vet. Afterwards.......... she was taken home, put in a shoe box in plastic bags and preserved in a freezer until she could be buried It tore me apart....but her namesake (a real person) took her and buried her in the back yard And I LOVED this guinea pig....nothing wong with that

She could have a kidney infection or a bladder infection.Take her to a vet asap.

u said she right? If it's a girl.... well..... let's just say.... er..... well. Never mind, but if it's a girl I wouldn't worry
