All professional racers start of karting when they are six so you chances at making f1 or irl are verry slim auto cross wont get u anywhere but autocross. If I were you I would get a kart and start racing at your local trackkarting will open more doors then any thing else and however because your starting so late you may only get so far however don't lose hope because if you go to a good school you can be a mechanic for a race team and most of them still race in the scca or nasa but learn to race before you go there.
