Is snowboard wax the same as ski wax?

Wax on a snowboard / ski box?

  • So I'm building a snowboard box with the top sheet being 5 ABS tubes side-by-side. The problem is I'm not sure if it will slide well enough. Is there a wax I can use for it? ...show more

  • Answer:

If you don't have 'Skiwax" then you can use Paraffin wax. Buy that at the grocery store with the canning Jams and Jellies stuff. My Son and I made up our own Ski Wax that worked wonderfully. But the Parrafin wax worked almost as good. You use an OLD clothes iron, not your Mama's Iron. You get the iron hot, rub the block of wax on the iron to melt the wax onto the board. You work in small areas at a time. Then when the paraffin is in drops on the board, you lightly iron it on to melt it evenly. Let it set up and harden. Then you use the dark green side of a kitchen sponge the scrubbie side and lightly sand it with the scrubbie. Next they use something hard and stiff, like a piece of plexiglass and smooth the wax to an almost shiney surface. Makes the board slick on the snowy slush. That is how my Son does his Snowboard and all his friends before they head for the slopes. Good Luck.
