How to get my ECE?

How do students from NSIT in coe-it-ece get placed , their syllabus is old and faculty is incompetent?

  • I saw the placement statistics which were quite good , but how do they get placed their syllabus sucks their faculty is shit

  • Answer:

Nothing to do in college = Lots of free timeĀ  = Study for placements. Also having a year long placement "season" helps. And if you consider calling up companies good work, then yes placement team is good too. Also this brings up another point which is not brought up enough. A lot of what these companies specially in CS asks usually has very little to do with what is being or what should be taught in colleges. Projects can be faked with some effort. As long as you know how to answer what is being asked, you will get selected. Probably people from NSIT are very good at it.

Most of the students in NSIT get placed because of their own abilities, caliber. preparation and interest (in some cases). Some of the other reasons are as follows: 1. Extremely hardworking training and placement cell: The placement cell of NSIT is undoubtedly the most efficient, even if you compare it with the placement cells of other top notch colleges in the country. The students working in the department work extremely hard to market their college to companies and take a lot of pains conduct interviews in the best possible manner despite the lack-luster infrastructure of the college. Also the Dean of Students Welfare personally supervises the department which helps in its functioning. 2. Delhi Advantage: The location of the college in Delhi contributes a lot towards its placements. It is always convenient for a company to visit a college in Delhi to recruit intelligent people rather than travelling to a remote location in the country to recruit students of the same potential. 3. Extended placement season: The placement season of NSIT starts in the beginning of 7th semester and goes on till the end of 8th semester, thus making it a year long placement season unlike any other college in the country. Thus a lot of companies visit the campus during the placement season which result in awesome placements.

As anon user said above, the placement team is quite good. NSIT has brilliant students, which are in top 3000-4000 people in the country, which is not a small thing considering the number of engineering aspirants in out country. And if you come to consider COE-IT-ECE which get filled first, the students(speaking in average terms) are even better basic-aptitude wise. Now,the studies are mostly stupid in college.Too theoretical, and which doesn't even matter if you consider industry.Professors themselves are not acquainted.Sorry,I said Professors.Actually most of the people teaching in NSIT are mtech students which is a sad thing since these M.tech students don't really know much.So the situation of academics is pretty pathetic here. That said, the students here are pretty motivated to do well.If they are somehow able to achieve interest in their field, they go onto do pretty well. And if they don't find interest in their field, then they often switch track to Non technical fields or to doing MBA or in some rare cases trying for civil services . So this is very important - the fact that students are willing to do well whatever the field they're in.Even though this often means that a lot of students are just doing well , but have no real interest in their field. This being the case, still a lot of students eventually get interested in their field. Now,IIIT Delhi used to be in NSIT campus till this year.So a lot of NSIT students went to IIIT to do projects, and I admit,IIIT projects and the faculty is pretty amazing, coming from univs like CMU and like.So the students gained a lot from the projects there also. NSIT is a known name now - the name of the institution is pretty well known among technical circles even though a lot of people I know used to tell their relatives/friends as DCE Dwarka.(I don't understand why NSIT isn't so well known among common people as DCE is even though NSIT has a better or almost same track record of placements as DCE has.In fact the computer science branch at NSIT gets filled before DCE,the difference is more or less like -which IIT is better - Delhi or Bombay?).So the name being so well known draws companies to college. Almost always , something or the other is going on in NSIT - like people interested in non-technical stuff are attending MUNs and other competitions and likewise and people interested in technical stuff are often involved in some project or the other, which provides good exposure to those students who are not much aware initially. So the scope for learning is great at NSIT,even though the faculty is not good for the most part.Few teachers actually know their subjects, and in them, fewer actually teach it properly. A lot times this saying goes,"Students make institutions" in case of NSIT this saying is very close to truth. On the whole NSIT provides a lot of scope for learning to those who want to learn . Since the pressure of acads isn't so much ,people get a lot of time to chill out ,stretch their legs, and enjoy life every once in a while. In fact ,to be very honest, people at NSIT are usually found chilling out at Just cafe or MicMac. And inspite of all the fun students have here, still they find a lot of time to pursue their interests and chase their dreams.

The students are pretty decent and the infinite amount of time that they have away from college can be put to good use. Placements and CAT are two good outlets. Drugs and alcohol are two lesser known ones. However, there is a downward trend in student quality that has been observed with many BBAs pretending to be B.E. joining the program.

The companies believe that the students are good enough to adapt to changing scenarios. They look out for brains not for what you have studied. The students of NSIT have a really good aptitude to lap up things.

They get placed because things are not as bad as you believe them to be. Many of our faculty are extremely competent and even though there are areas the syllabus could be better--- (based on my experience in hiring and dealing with them)-- our syllabi are a hell of a lot better than syllabi of places like Dhirubhai Ambani Instt of Tech OR Lovely Prof. Univ. Also, learn some respect--- because it's not anything about NSIT but your own attitude that can make or break you. Even if you dont like something using words like "shit"-- only tells how you run stuff inside your own brain. Am writing this as somebody whose spent around 14 years in the Industry; co-authored books with US Univ and Indian Univ professors and as a entrepreneur built mobile apps with millions of downloads.

Firstly, IT's syllabus isn't that outdated! Its relatively new. Secondly, the placements are excellent because the students at NSIT put in a lot of effort. If you look at competitive programming sites you'll find a lot of students who spend countless hours solving the extemely challenging problems.

Virtually, the entire Engineering education is hyped up in India and is a failure. We don't study Engineering to do Engineering works, but to get placed in cool jobs. Tell me, why Engineers flock for quiz programs? I mean, business quiz? Engineers must keep on working to design that next generation of technology. But that's not what Indian Engineers do. This is applicable for the entire Engineering curriculum.
