When it comes down to it, your not paying anybody to submit your site to major search engines, so why should they rush to put your site on a search engine. You can suggest a link to Yahoo!, Google, and other search engines without paying anything, but your looking up to 3 months before you even see your site pop up on that search engine. Of course if you pay a search engine, you will see your site on the search results pretty quickly.
