How to get credits for homeschooling?

Do you get highschool credits if you are homeschooling?

  • I'm considering being home schooled for 8th and 9th grade. do you get highschool credits for that?? is it a good idea??

  • Answer:

Do you mean, when you go back to public school in 10th grade, will they accept the work you did in home school? That depends on your public school! If you plan to go back that soon then you should make sure to study the same things they offer, so you aren't ahead or behind. That way, you can prove you are ready to just join the classes. But, then, if you do that, why bother to home school? You don't get high school credits for 8th grade, no matter where you go to school. Home school should allow you to study what you want, in ways best for you. You shouldn't have to replicate the classroom to make sure you "get" your credits! Why do it under those circumstances? Some high schools will test incoming students who were home schooled. My daughter went to 9th after home schooling K-8 and they didn't test her at all. All you can do for sure is ask your school what their policy is.
