    Those in charge of your schooling (in the case of true homeschooling, your parents) decide how your credits are awarded. They then put that information into a transcript... this transcript along with your ACT/SAT scores are what colleges look for from *any* entering freshman. Your transcript and the credits awarded by your parents are no more or less valid/suspect than those awarded by any other school. That is why *all* students are expected to send in ACT/SAT scores as well... to verify that you generally know what your transcript says you know. Also: Texas is a *great* state to homeschool in. They are very 'hands off'... you do not have to 'prove' anything to the state. Tell mom: Just as you are in charge of seeing your children are fed... you are in charge of seeing they get an education. In the case of Texas... they realize this. If you chose to provide an education by homeschooling... you are *assumed* to be providing an education. You are in effect 'innocent till proven guilty' of providing proper care to your children. You do have to 'prove' you are feeding your child well.... and you do not have to 'prove' you are educating them well.

Your mom is really going to have to do some research on this as well. It's great that YOU are taking such role in your own education, but she can't just sit back and not do anything. The first answer was absolutely right about credits and such. You and your mom have been programmed to think in terms of how the school does everything. Thinking that you must prove this and prove that. Have your mom look into some local home school groups in your area to get a better feel for things on a personal basis. Home schooling is so vast that there is really no way to understand it all with out doing research and talking with people.

The state doesn't receive you grade. The state doesn't know whether or not you are doing any work. The state doesn't grant you credits. You don't prove to the state of TX that you are getting an education. How does what credit system work?
