I taught preschool during my senior year of high school. I've noticed the children writing letters about 3-5 years old. Some may need assistance. Others may not. It all depends if the child has developed their fine motor skills.

I work at a preschool with kids 3 to 5 years old. the 3 year old should know their letters and alphabet but we don't expect them to know how to write them. at age 4 they should start writing their letters Capital and lower case. then age 5 they should be able to write and be able to say which letter is capital and lower case. hope i helped some!
