Easy fly to tie for beginners that requires very little material?

  • Answer:

This: http://www.rodringsandthings.co.uk/media/gbu0/prodsm/120.jpg This is one of the variations of mackerel feathers used in the UK. This is also the old style bonito feather used in the US. Basically, it's just one hook and one feather. You don't even need to tie those things. Just dab some super glue on the feather and attach it onto the hook. Once you've done that, use a snell knot to attach the "fly" to the line. This thing looked rather pathetic. But, it works.
