I have a severe peanut allergy and I generally fly with QANTAS. You should ask your specific airline on their recommendations as there are loads of people out there with allergies, but generally they give you options of meals made with special needs if you have a severe allergy; I've had Kosher meals before as they are made with extra care and have very little chances of cross-contamination. Otherwise, make sure to bring your own food; they once forgot the peanut free meals and I had to endure a 12h plane trip only eating fruit... yeah, don't make that mistake... bring some muesli bars!

How about sitting without crossing your legs, that will alleviate any swelling you experience in that area. Maybe see a dermatologist for a salve to put on your nuts so you won't get a rash.
