What's the most impressive piece of art you've ever seen?

Certainly one of the most impressive works of art on the planet, that I have seen, is Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England, in the U.K. There is nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world. When you consider that it was built and carved in the Stone age (Neolithic) some 4,500 years ago, with tools of stone, wood, and animal antler, you realize what a huge commitment this must have been for hundreds of people who could do little more than scratch a living out of the landscape around them. We may think of them as being primitive, yet they produced a work of art and a monument which has lasted for thousands of years. How many of our works of art and monuments could do anything like the same?

In Munich, there was this painting of a battle: ALBRECHT ALTDORFER, The Battle of Issus, 1529. Oil on panel, 4' 4 1/4" x 3' 11 1/4". Alte Pinakothek, Munich. That I found quite striking.

no joke- about 3 or 4 years ago i was watching a charity auction and a woman had done a painting with her vagina, like she'd stuck the paint brush up there and off she went. it was more of a blob of colour than an actual drawing but yeah, it was pretty fab!!

i would say either the salvador dali persistence of memory, or starry night, just because of the real messages they convey.
