Whats the difference between Harry potter and the Sorcerers Stone and Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone is the American name for it while Harry Potter And The Philosophers stone is the European Name. Basicly it is the same book with two different names because of where the book was sold

Sorcerers Stone is the American name, while Philosophers Stone is the European name. It's the same book, but for some random reason, it has two titles.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone is what it is called in England.

It was changed for the US due to 'fears' that children in the US wouldn't know what the Philosopher's Stone was, and mistake it for something to do with actual philosophy rather than the Alchemical Holy Grail that it was. It's kind of dumb, considering the Philosopher's stone has been in fantasy literature for centuries and is very well known.

The only difference was one very stupid editor in New York.

Nothing SS is the American title, PS is the UK title. It's the same story with the exception of the word Sorcerer being Philosopher.

There is no difference it's the same book. The book in England, Australia, New Zealand and other places is called Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone and was named this by JK herself. However publishers thought that the American readers would not understand the concept of a philosopher as well as they would the term "sorcerer" thus why it was changed. The plot etc is no different but some words have been changed for example the word "jumper" which in England, Australia etc is what a sweater is in American terms. To put it simply the only real difference is the actual title nothing else.
