What is the best college in Ahmedabad?

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad: Does the graduating college brand really matters for admissions to IIMA?

  • I have 95% in 10th and 87.5 in 12th

  • Answer:

Nope, it does not. At least in every interview I gave, the college was never brought up during the discussion. Most (but not all) of the interviewers are highly intellectual people who will judge you by your knowledge and your abilities rather than by the name of your college. If you impress them by showing that you know about your field of work/study, that should be enough.

Well, statistics would show that IITians and NITians form an extraordinarily large pool at IIMA, yes, but it does not mean that you cannot make it. Your academics are great, and as long as your undergrad percentage/GPA is above 80%, and assuming of course that you do manage to ace CAT, you can will definitely get a call because calls are independent of college. The reason few people get in from state universities in particular is because they are not as generous in giving marks as the others. Once you do get a call, it's about showing them why you are capable and you can definitely expect some technical questions if your college is relatively lesser known. The only difference is that an IITian may be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to technical skills, whereas you will not. Hope this helps, all the best!
