I have speaker rated at 6 ohm impedence and a amp rated at 8 ohm ipm. the new 6 ohm speakers wont work why?

The reciever is a sherwood , it was inexpensive but I enjoy the sound I get from it ,the new 6 ohm speakers wont put out any sound but the small 8 ohm speakers I have do
