How to set the gain on XM-GTX1852 1000 Watt Sony Amp?

Like Where do i set it i got it pushing two 07C124 12" Kicker Comps. and i got it about 3/4 of the way gain up. but im not real sure on how to tell if the subs are clipping or ...show more

By ear is really the only way. It has to do with the particular amp, the particular subs, the vehicle acoustics, preout voltage etc...there's no way to just TELL YOU how high up to turn it. I will say that I would NOT turn it passed 3/4. If you're having doubts then you should have someone you know who knows how to do it to help you, or take it to a car audio shop and pay them to adjust your settings (shouldn't cost much and may even be free if you encounter a cool installer).
