  • Answer:

if u smell somthin burning it's just ur sub lol, but u should never hav ur amp all the way up. it's bad for the amp and the sub. i think the sub is a thousand watts right, so i think u could probly kill that sub with that amp if u tryed. i know an mtx can take a beating but that seems like a bit too much for just one mtx 9500.

The Woofer you refer to has a 500 watt (RMS) The correct statement you should be asking is will my Amplifer Blow my Subwoofer? The answer is yes! The Amp has more than double tha output on a Rms Factor wich says the peak for it is somewhere around 3500 watts the sub is around 1000! That is way too much power for the woofer! The Gain control on the amplifier, Is for signal matching Not a volume control! When you turn it up all the way you are overdriving the signal wich will cause Distortion and Damage to the speaker1 The best way to find out how to match the head unit and the Amp is to look in the specs for the Source Unit! somewhere between 1.5 v-8v then the amp should have close to the same settings on it! match the outputs as close as possible, and keep the bass boost's off and you should be fine with the setup!
