Yes they may... and anyhow what's the big deal? You go to a lawyer with your case and they'll probably laugh in your face. You can learn to save a life and most CPR courses are like simple 4 hour class that cost $25-35 bucks. Maybe in the past an employee choked on a doughnut or something and that's how it came about. It a great life skill to learn not for lifeguards and firefighters only. Who knows when you might need it God forbid maybe your mom or kid who knows. Without oxygen, brain cells start to die and in 6 -10 minutes can results in permanent brain damage. It takes the average ambulance 10-30minutes to get to a person...see my point?. Getting CPR started before an ambulance shows up is life saving and can be the difference between that person having a normal life or being a bed ridden vegetable...Go do the course and stop whining EDIT: Dont worry you wont be "kissing" on a real person they use practice dummies and make it enjoyable to learn and most times have a plastic sheild in first aid kits if you actually have to go "kiss" a stranger if that's what you worried about.

Well, it's not like there asking you to do something bad. Give it a try. It could save someone's life.

Employers may require you to take whatever training they think is nessesary. I have had to take a fire extiguisher course to work in a day camp and as a teacher and required to take safety courses that don't pertain to my job. as long as the employer pays for the training I am pretty sure it is ok.
