There is no law specifically for this - there are no laws for most things that are this specific. Is it completely wrong on mom's part = it is 100% not cool... if you were under 18 it would not be illegal. If you report this to the company, it's very likely that mom could get fired for this and I bet that is the LAST thing that you want. Between you and mom you are going to have to work out the problem. - If your name is on the savings account, I would just drop it, you can pull the money out yourself from here. - If your company offers direct deposit, I would establish it so that the money goes to an account that mom does not have access to = it would be pretty slimy of her, if she overwrote this change. To be blunt = isn't this what you get for working at a job where mom is in charge of payroll = sort of like the kid who goes to school at the same place mom is a teacher. Go find a job that is independent of mom. - I know there are tough times in California but there are plenty of jobs to be had. I am currently sitting at a HR dept for a company in Orange County that has 2500 employees and about 55 openings.

If it is her company, there is little you can do. If she is an employee, complain to her boss. What she is doing is illegal without your permission. It really would be better to work for a company where you do not have a mommy in payroll.

Taking your checks would be theft and fraud. If a total stranger were doing this, they would be arrested for it. Since you are 19, you are more than old enough to open a bank account under your own name and have your pay direct deposited. I suggest you do so immediately. It sounds like it may be time for you to fly the nest, to find another job and another place to live, and end your mother's involvement with your life.
