How much does it cost and how long would it take to become a paralegal?

There are a lot of different paralegal programs out there. Community colleges, state colleges & universities, even the school in Tacoma Washington that offers police and detective training have certificate programs for paralegal studies. The bar associations have not made paralegal certificates standardized, so many states don't require paralegal training. However, when I attended in Philadelphia in 1989, the school I went to required at least a bachelor's degree to be accepted to the program, or 'equivalent work experience'. I went to school 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and completed the program in about 4 months.If you attend evening classes, it may take 1 or 2 years, or about 4 semesters, depending on the program. Check some local colleges - it doesn't need to be a business school. Most all have catalogs on line nowadays, and will tell you the cost of the program you are interested in, or at least the cost per credit. Contact the person in charge of that program if the info isn't readily available. It's just that every program and school varies greatly in their tuition costs, it's difficult to tell you how much it will cost, especially since we don't know where in the country you are looking.
