What you need to do is figure out an outline. Talk about a little bit about yourself.....personal so they can see you as a person, not someone writing a cookie cutter essay. Remember these folks read tons of these, and I can tell you that they learn to spot a "Miss America" essay in a minute. You know where the answers to every question are "world peace". So your introduction should speak to who you are as a person, to include where you first became interested in going to nursing school. After your introduction about who you are and how you became interested in nursing, you want to then write a bit about why you are applying to this particular nursing program. What about their school and nursing program made you want to apply. If you perhaps are the type of person who has a hard time putting words down on paper.....grab something like your cell phone and just talk.....like having a conversation about these things. Then play back your recording and write your essay based on that. Again, you want to first do your outline of the paper, this will help your essay connect and not be disjointed. Example of an outline: I. Who I am II, How I first became interested in nursing (use personal experiences) a. What speaks to your heart about being a nurse b. What about nursing is meaningful to you III. Why you want to attend their nursing program a. What you like about their nursing program IV. Summary a. Why you would be an asset to their nursing program (include basic info on your character and dedication, etc. b. What it would mean for you to be accepted into their program c. End the essay with "Thank you for the opportunity to apply to your nursing program. I look forward to hearing from you". It is up to you whether or not you want to go into "salary". Nurses have the lives of patients every day in their hands.......even if salary appears to be attractive, the work and skills required are just as important. Not to mention, not all nurses make high end salaries, so whether or not to include the salary should be your personal judgment and call. I personally wouldn't go there. That's just me.

You could write that it's a respected career. That it's a stable career That it offers several places for employment - hospital, clinic, doctor office, corporations, schools, even a cruise liner. And yes, I think you can also say it offers good benefits including salary. After all salary is the reason most people work.
