Background Investigation?????????

How long does a background investigation usually take??? i had mine for a police agency last month, is it supposed to take that long??

I worked for a time in our human resources department doing background checks on potential officer candidates. At one point I was doing 12 at a time. You had to check work references and had to contact the personal references. Sometimes these people are not home or available and you play phone tag with them for days. I also visisted certain employers and did interviews with them in person. The questionaire we used for personal references was extensive and took a while to complete. We also do home and neighbour visists. So a month is not an unreasonable amount of time to take, depending on how busy human resources is.

If they have a lot of candidates they may be behind with the back ground checks so it could take them a while to get to yours. I worked for the Federal Prison system and had to have a back ground check done when I was hired, it took them 2 years to get to mine and get it finished. So, yes it can take some time if they are backed up with them. Best of luck to you with your new career.

My first interview with my background investigator was on OCT. 9. She said she will try and schedule a final interview by the end of this month. So im thinking no more than a month. Good luck!

IT DEPENDS ON HOW BAD THEY NEED TO FILL THE POSITION, IT COULD TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 1 WEEK TO 6 MONTHS
