The other posters gave you some good suggestions. . Also try calcium and potassium suplements starting 2 days before the race and into race day. Besides relaxing his grip, he needs to work on that muscle group that causes arm pump. Your local motorcycle dealer should sell one of those gyroball grip exersizers. If he works out at all, tell him to concentrated on "rowing" type exersizes. the grip and pulling motion approximate riding. HTH,. D

I got really bad arm pump when I moved up onto a 250. I had it really bad and my arms would hurt for a day or two after. The best advice I can give for him is just to loosen his grip. When I started on the 250 I was white knuckling it. Then I started to tell myself when I was riding to loosen my grip. After alot of riding and telling myself to have a lighter grip, I found that I was only hanging on with the middle and ends of my fingers. This really helped my arm pump and even let me ride longer without getting tired. If he has tried this and it doesn't work, try ice, ibuprofen, or anti inflamitorry. -hope I helped
