Yes, it is possible. However, what yr friend did was like a conference MSN. You and yr friend's friend were on his contact list. And since all 3 of you were online at the same time, he or you can invite online contacts into the same msn. Just click on the green man with a + sign or go to Actions and click on Invite a contact to join this Conversation. If you don't want to participate, just close the MSN box. Hope this helps..
