    I don't see how a grandparent adoption can be anything other than an open adoption. The definition that I learned was that in a closed adoption, the APs and the biological parents have little or no information about each other. Not full names, addresses, etc. An open adoption can fall somewhere along a spectrum, but the APs and biological parents have knowledge of who the other party is.

IF the grandparents adopt the child they will be the ones who make all the rules--if they wish they can allow the parent to visit with the child and supervise the visits[due to mental illness].And if the grandparents decide it is not an option -then there will be no contact.
