Is it true that Y!Mash will replace Y!360?

Is it true that the UK Pension is to stop in the next 10 to 20 years from now? And if so what will replace it?

  • What will happen to people who have not planned for retirement or only have paid National insurance who are expecting a pension?

  • Answer:

The bad news is that the state pension will not cover the cost of living in 10 to 20 years time, but there will always be a compulsory pension scheme, endorsed by the government, to allow people to retire. The advice from the city is to invest at least 50%, some say more, of your earnings for your retirement or start getting rid of us oldies lol.

Yeah it probably will be and I doubt that anything will replace it. We have an aging population and within 20 years it possible that 25-50% of the population would be retirement age. A large percentage of the working population is middle aged (40s-50s) due to the post-WW2 baby boom and will be ready to retire in a few years. Coupled with low birth rates for modern families and you have the issue. Once it goes bust it's unlikely to be set up again, the best the government will be able to manage for you would be a subsistence pension. People my age (late teens, early 20) won't get anything and will have to work until we drop. You can only solve it by a) increased child rates, b) forced euthanasia for the elderly (horrible) or c) immigration.
